ALCA Mourns the Loss of its Long-Time Executive Director, Dr. Ervin “Chip” Wood

Dr. Wood gained his angel wings quite suddenly on November 25, 2020. He brought such light and empowerment to the Alabama Counseling Association with over a quarter of a century of service as the ALCA Executive Director. He fostered ALCA’s development and growth as no one before has done so in its history.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Lin, and sons, Jason and Jonathan, and all of the Wood family.

ABEC Announcement

The Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling is currently undergoing several transitions which have resulted in a delay of processing licensing applications and renewals. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
To assist in this transition, all LPC licensees whose license was due for renewal in July 2020 will have their renewal deadline extended to December 2020. Please be assured that the ABEC office staff and board members are working diligently towards implementing an effective and efficient system that will streamline the licensing process. We thank you in advance for your patience and for your ongoing commitment to providing competent and ethically sound counseling services to the great citizens of Alabama.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Anna Barksdale, Board Chair, at
