ALCA Welcomes Emily Rich
Get to know your Executive Director:
Emily Rich was born and raised in Birmingham, AL. She graduated from The University of Alabama in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology. She then received her M.Ed. in Counseling from The College of William and Mary in 2007.
Mrs. Rich worked as a School Counselor in Virginia before moving back to Birmingham. She then worked for twelve years as a School Counselor for the Shelby County School System.
During her tenure as a counselor, she has been an active member of both ALCA and ALSCA. She has served as the Graduate Student Coordinator for ALCA, as well as the Professional Recognition Award Chairman, Secretary, and President (President Elect-Elect, President Elect, Past President) of ALSCA. She has been the recipient of several awards through the years including Shelby County Elementary School Counselor of the Year, ALCA Emerging Leader, and ALSCA Most Outstanding Member.
Mrs. Rich is excited about this opportunity to serve the amazing counselors in the great state of Alabama. She looks forward to working for the Association and advocating for the counseling profession. She moved into the role of Executive Director on January 1, 2022.
Mrs. Rich lives in Birmingham with her husband, two daughters and three cats. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and painting.
